Kindergarten At CTK

Choosing a school for your child can be a difficult decision. We invite you to tour CTK's Kindergarten and see for yourself our quality, Christian education program.

In addition to a strong academic program, our kindergarten teacher Mrs. Jackie Brooks provides interactive and exciting curriculum to keep your child engaged and learning.

Kindergarten Requirements

  • Your child must be five years of age by September 1 for enrollment consideration.
  • All new families must tour before applying.
  • Once your application is received, all students are required to take our benchmark assessment with our Kindergarten teacher.
  • Religion

Students will study the Bible and learn about God’s love for us.

  • Reading

Each day, students will have teacher read aloud, shared reading, and small group guided reading. Students will also work on their own sight word list and practice leveled readers on a weekly basis.

  • Writing

Students will create books, posters, and practice writing in a variety of ways. Students may be asked to write on a topic of their own choosing, or write on the same topic. We also do lots of coloring and labeling of pictures.

  • Centers

Students will learn some independence in the classroom as they work in centers each day. Examples include sight words, word work, math, spelling, games and reading groups.

  • Math

Students will focus on math skills daily through calendar time, centers and math lessons. Numeracy skills, patterns, 2D/3D geometry, and measurement are just a few examples of what we cover over the year.

  • Science

Science lessons include learning about our five senses, season and weather, properties, plants and animals. We use a variety of methods such as stories, experiments and research projects.

  • Social Studies

In Social Studies, students learn about the world around them, citizenship, then and now, our community, and our world.
